MESSIAH LUTHERAN SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY

Messiah Lutheran School is an intentional and committed response to Christ’s Word, “Come unto me . . .” “Let the little children come unto me . . .”  This school is a ministry that embodies God’s love and acceptance so that children feel welcomed and valued.  “Come unto me all you who labor and are heavy laden . . .”  We recognize that in today’s world, parents need a safe place where their children can grow and develop.  As God’s people, we embrace that sacred trust in an atmosphere that is lovingly accepting, wisely guiding and consistently faithful.

We believe that all truth comes from God.  Our guiding philosophy is to create an atmosphere that encourages the child’s natural gifts and curiosity about the world.  We are unashamed of our Christian, democratic and cultural traditions and believe that teachers who stand firmly but openly in those traditions are best equipped to create a climate of loving and learning with their children.  Our teachers are called to know each child’s “growing edges” and to provide learning experiences to help children grow and develop at their own rate and develop a positive self image.  Equipped with the best educational materials available and committed to the pursuit of excellence, we pledge ourselves to the goal of helping our children to become the best they can be.

The New Testament uses the Greek word “Koinonia” to describe a community of persons gathered around a shared tradition and committed to a common goal.  This word reminds us that we need each other if we are to achieve our best.  We invite the parents of this community into “Koinonia” with us as we strive to lay the educational foundation in our children on which a whole lifetime of growing, learning and caring can be built.

Messiah Lutheran Church and School is a "Safehaven for Children" and welcomes everyone to come and grow with us. MLS admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin. Our facility is handicap accessible. All school chapel services are Christian, ecumenical, and biblically based. In times of need, our pastor is also available to help provide pastoral care of the child or the entire family upon request.
